Round 4 - More normal conditions - FINALLY!

After three opening weeks with a string of losses to the favorite teams and unusually many away wins, week 4 finally saw the return to more normal conditions in the Premier League.

The results were immediately visible in the scores: The average score was 107 points and only 4 players score less than 100 points.

Our new leader is Rasmus Windfeld, who topped this weeks scores with 165 points. Rasmus has taken a commanding lead with 65 points down to the second position which is shared by Emre and Axel.

We have a new member of the group - Udpint - who jumps directly on to 9th spot. This year there was not much of a penalty of starting later!

Despite a good week for myself, I am still last! Whose idea was this game anyway?

Round 3 - Disaster strikes Hesteskriger

Week 3 was a disaster for most of the participants. Six players were in negative territory, 9 players lost their banker and the average score was an appaling -24 points!

Still two players - Emre Faks and SMPeters - came out with respectable 45 points. In Emre's case that meant that he climbed to the top of the leaderboard.

On the other hand, the previous leader - the mysterious sid_med_pli - dropped in spectacular fashion from first to 8th position with -110 points. Auch!

On a personal note, I didn't do much better with -90 points and now bringing up the rear of the mini-league.

Round 2 - I am beginning to realise I may not Know The Score

Mikael and Erdinc had a great week with 85 and 60 points respectively - rocketing them into serious contention.

Still, our leader remains sid_med_pli. After Finn has declared that he is not our leader, the mystery as to sid_med_pli's identity is only getting deeper. Does anyone know who the man in front is?

Also this week, two of the strongest pre-season favorites - Axel and Peter - took dramatic steps backwards to positions 6 and 7. Keep in mind that Axel and Peter have been 1 and 2 in the last two year's competitions.

Even though there's still a long way to go - 36 rounds - it is remarkable that there is already a spread of 170 points from top to bottom. Can the people below the watermark close the gap in the following weeks?

Looking at our scores, the big spread is not due to fantastic performances by the top half of the table. Our average score is 29 points - and with 115 points our mysterious leader is placed 4474th overall (out of 54000 players). Come on guys, we can do better!

Personally, I am starting to doubt my own predictive skills. My confidence is lower than Ferguson's and talk of a crisis is hard to suppress.

This round, there were 3 home wins, 2 away wins and 2 ties. Both home and away teams scored an average of 1,29 goals per game.

Round 1 - And they're off!

First round was a bag of mixed nuts for most players. The surprising 0-0 draw for ManU meant that only 4 players (out of 11) have their banker bonus for next week. Let's see if this will split the field early.

One player managed to negotiate the difficult terrain in grand style. The week's best result was "sid_med_pli" - is that you, Finn? - who came away with an impressive 90 points. Let's see if the running man can keep the tempo for the next rounds.

How good Finn's score was is evident from the fact that it is double that of the second best player, Axel, who after his victory two season's ago and second position last season must be ranked as one of the main favourites.

After these two high flyers came a group of 3 ManU fans with 30 points - Erdinc, Peter and Michael Harms. I just hope it's a sign that all ManU fans will have to get used to 3rd place!

I am excited to see that we are so many players. That'll make the league really interesting and competitive. I wish you all good luck for the next rounds.

Finally, even though there's no website on the horizon yet, you will get a little statictics:
The ten games resulted in 4 home wins, 4 away wins and 2 draws. There was an average of 2,8 goals per game - but more surprisingly, 1,5 goals were scored by away teams and only 1,3 goals by the homesides. Altogether a WEIRD round!

Velcome to Hesteskriger (IKTS Mini-league 2007-08)

Hi Guys,

On Saturday the English Premier League season kicks off. And for the third year we are arranging a private league in the official I Know The Score game on the Premierleague's website (http://iknowthescore.premierleague.com/).

The name of the private league is Hesteskriger (Danish for Horsescreamer).

The game is very simple: You have to guess the correct score of every game in each round of the premier league season. However, I recommend that you read the rules in detail as there are some details surrounding the banker and insurance button you will need to understand. And remember that you can enter scores for as many weeks as you like ahead of time (so you don't forget and lose your chance of winning due to forgetfulness, vacation, the birth of your first child, etc.).

There are no prizes. We play for something much more important: Honor!

During the season I will work on creating a little extra statistics (last year's stats page never really made it off the ground: http://www.stenbjerre.com/ikts/).

If you know others who would like to play, feel free to send this invitation on to them.

May the best team from West London win!

Mads
